Cold Springs’ Ethan Edgeworth added to his already impressive prep résumé this week.
The Tennessee signee was recently named the Gatorade Alabama Boys Cross Country Player of the Year following his remarkable senior season on the trails.
Edgeworth became the first boys runner in AHSAA history to win four consecutive state titles after setting a new record in the 5K with a 14:34.29 to help the Eagles corral their fifth Class 1A/2A crown in program history.
In 44 meets since the 2019 season, he racked up 27 wins, 37 Top 3s and 43 Top 10s.
Edgeworth also finished in fifth place at the Nike Cross Southeast Regional Championships to become the first Alabama runner in history to qualify for Nike Cross Nationals, where he finished in 47th.
A member of the National Honor Society and his school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter, Edgeworth has maintained a 3.82 GPA in the classroom.
He is the second runner from Cold Springs to receive the honor, joining Nathan Lewis in 2010.
