A Cullman County woman accused of killing her two sons has been booked into the Cullman County Detention Center where she’s being held without bond.
Sara Franco Tapia, 32, is facing murder charges in the Oct. 12 deaths of her sons Alvaro Garcia, 3, and Taylor Garcia, 9. Tapia had been receiving treatment at a North Alabama hospital since the incident for what officials say are self-inflicted injuries.
Law enforcement officials say the brothers died following injuries they sustained in an attack at their home in the Baileyton area. A knife was recovered at the scene.
Tapia was found in a grassy field near the residence where the incident occurred shortly after it was first reported.
