Christmas will come early to the Cullman Civic Center this weekend, when the annual Vinemont Band Boosters Craft Show brings thousands of one-of-a-kind gifts from nearly 100 vendors all under one roof.

Assembling skilled makers of unique items both Christmas-themed and otherwise, the crafts show returns this year with 93 vendors strong, meaning the civic center will be overflowing with jewelry, clothes, decor, and more, according to coordinator Miranda Reeves.

“We’re in the side rooms; we’re everywhere,” she said. “I have nowhere else to put any more vendors, unless we go outside with them — which we don’t do, since we never know what the weather’s going to be like. But all the rooms are full — even the concession stand area is full.”

Though the floor will be packed, the focus remains on quality over quantity, said Reeves, adding that all the items on display will be the kind of handmade treats you simply can’t find by hitting up a retail chain.

“We have people coming from out of state to be here, and there’s a lot of variety,” she said. “We have one vendor who does pet supplies, and another specializes in pottery. There’s crochet, clothing, handmade knives, metalwork, and art. We even have one vendor who brings in artwork that children make in Haiti.

“We also have a mix of holiday-themed things like wreaths, door hangers, and Christmas decorations; and then all those ‘anytime’ kind of items that would just make great gifts. There’ll be something for everyone, whether you’re shopping for Christmas — or just shopping.”

There’s no admission fee to show up and browse, since the show raises funds through vendors’ fees, concessions, and a $1,000 cash prize drawing. Money raised at this year’s event will help support the Vinemont band’s upcoming trip to perform at Walt Disney World in March.

Tickets for the $1,000 prize, which will be awarded at noon on Saturday, are $1 per person, and there’s no need to be present to win. Door prizes — one contributed by each of the show’s 93 vendors — will also be up for grabs, and free tickets for the prize drawings will be handed out at the door.

The show kicks off Friday morning at 9 a.m. and runs through 7 p.m.; Saturday’s show starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. For more on this year’s show, check out the event’s Facebook page at @VinemontBandBoosterCraftShow.
