Cullman County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Deputy Adam Clark was injured Tuesday morning after his patrol car wrecked on Highway 69 South near Bremen. He was found unconscious, with his K-9 Partner Figo also injured.

Clark was transported to Huntsville hospital where he remains in critical condition. 

K-9 Figo is in stable condition at a local veterinarian’s office.

According to a CCSO statement, dispatch “lost contact with a deputy during the heavy rain” while the deputy was on patrol. “CCSO deputies located the injured deputy a short time later” on Alabama Highway 69 South, where he was unconscious.

The Algo traffic website of the Alabama Department of Transportation and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency indicates the only State Trooper-reported accident that occurred in Cullman County overnight was on Alabama Highway 69 and County Road 117 in Dodge City.

An alert sent by the Nixle alerting system at 4:56 a.m. today advised that Highway 69 would be shut down just east of that location, near its intersection with County Road 8, as a result of the crash. The road has since been reopened.

“I would like to thank all the first responders from the local volunteer Fire departments, Cullman EMS, Morgan County Sheriff‘s Office, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Huntsville Police Department, Falkville Police Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, and the Huntsville Hospital nurses and doctors who have shown overwhelming love, support and care for Deputy Clark and his life,” said Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry.

The sheriff’s office said additional details will be released later. “We ask for the community’s prayers for the deputy, his family and the Cullman County Sheriffs Office,” the statement read.
