Mother Angelica posthumously awarded local tourism honor

Mother Angelica, founder of the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, was posthumously awarded the Tourism Professional of the Year award Thursday at the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual event at Stone Bridge Farms.
Representatives of the Shrine accepted the award. Mother Angelica died in 2016 from health complications.
Chamber Tourism Director Roger Steele said the Shrine draws an estimated 150,000 visitors annually.
