The EWTN Global Catholic Network will show its gratitude today to the 30-plus agencies that assisted with the funeral of the late Mother Angelica last month.
The network will host a luncheon at noon at Wallace State Community College to thank federal, state and local government officials and law enforcement officers who helped with the week’s events surrounding the funeral for EWTN’s founder. Hanceville Mayor Kenneth Nail, Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics and a representative from Gov. Robert Bentley’s office will also take part of the event. Around 120 are scheduled to attend.
“Mother Angelica’s funeral was a global event that brought thousands of people to Hanceville,” said EWTN Chairman and CEO Michael P. Warsaw. “What those who attended or watched on television didn’t see was the outstanding behind-the-scenes work of federal, state and local authorities who helped keep the public safe in a myriad of ways and who provided wonderful hospitality that resulted in a positive experience for all who participated. Mayor Nail and I want to personally thank the many people who contributed in big and small ways to the success of this event.”
Warsaw and Nail will present participating agencies with plaques in appreciation for their work.
“I have been very impressed by the great cooperation between so many institutions in coordinating the memorial events for Mother Angelica,” Warsaw said. “That cooperation and Southern hospitality are two of the many things which make living and working in Alabama such a pleasure.”
