News was released at 7 a.m. Thursday, setting off a massive response on social media and inquiries for tickets that Rock the South founder Shane Quick said raised anticipation for the May 31-June 1 music festival in Cullman.

“This is the biggest response we’ve ever had — Facebook, Instagram, visits to our website and phone calls,” Quick said. “We’ve had inquiries for tickets from all the states, including Hawaii and Alaska, and several countries. This is the highest requested artist since we started Rock the South.”

Kid Rock (Robert James Ritchie) broke into the music scene in 1990 with the album Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast on Jive records. His music style in the early years blended hip-hop, rock and country. He graduated to enormous success with the hit All Summer Long and a duet with Sheryl Crow that produced another rise to the top with the song Picture.

Since 2010, Kid Rock has moved deeper into the country music genre and continues to perform before sellout crowds.

“Between Joe Ragsdale’s opening of Rock N Roll Sushi and Rock the South announcing Kid Rock, I think the City of Cullman is today the rockingnest city in the country.” Quick said.

Rock the South will release the final additions to the lineup today. Ticket information will also be released.

Brooks & Dunn and Florida Georgia Line are also booked for the event.

“With the announcement of Kid Rock, we’re already have artists who sell out stadiums requesting bookings for next year,” Quick said. “This is a big team effort. We’re also very excited about our new neighbors as we prepare to introduce a new venue for Rock the South. We’re also hoping this will be like a big reunion. If you’ve been to Rock the South before, we’re hoping you will come join us again.”

The event, which started in 2012, has grown each year, reaching more than 60,000 attendance in 2018. The expectation for this year’s show is 65,000, perhaps more.

“We are looking toward a record-breaking show,” Quick said. “That will mean records for ticket sales, for charities we support and tax dollars in the community.”
