The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a frost advisory until 8 a.m. Monday with patchy light freezing fog also possible.
A frost advisory means that widespread frost is expected. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
Low temperatures fell into the low to mid 30s overnight, and these temperatures, along with a clear sky and light winds will be favorable for frost development.
The best chance for any freezing fog will be in the sheltered and valley areas of southern middle Tennessee leading into northeast and north central Alabama. Some light freezing fog may also develop near bodies of water.
Temperatures in some locations were expected also fall near or just below the freezing mark for a couple of hours overnight and into the early morning hours. Any freezing fog will quickly diminish or lift shortly after daybreak.
If motorists driving late tonight or early in the morning encounter any light freezing fog, slow down and be alert for slick spots on bridges and some roads.
