The Cullman County Farm City Committee hosted its annual Proclamation Breakfast Tuesday, Oct. 22, bringing together community leaders, farmers, city officials and county leadership to celebrate and strengthen the bond between rural and urban life in Cullman County.
The event, held at Alabama Farm-Credit, marked the official start to the Farm-City season for 2024, an annual celebration highlighting the importance of agriculture and its vital role in everyday life.
During the breakfast, a formal proclamation was issued by local mayors and county commissioners, declaring the upcoming Farm-City Week and encouraging citizens to recognize the contributions of farmers and agricultural industries to the community.
This weeklong celebration is a reminder of the essential partnerships between urban businesses and rural farms that sustain and grow the local economy.
Tiffany Oldacre, Vice-chairman of the Cullman County Farm City Committee, spoke during the event, emphasizing the importance of bridging the gap between rural and urban residents through education and collaboration.
“Our goal with this Farm-City season is to bring awareness to how much Cullman County Counts on Farmers,” Oldacre said. “This breakfast is an opportunity for us to come together, recognize the significance of agriculture and honor the partnerships that keep our community thriving.”
Congressman Robert Aderholt was spoke on the importance of family farms.
The proclamation breakfast is the kickoff to a series of events hosted by the Cullman County Farm City Committee as part of the Farm-City season.
