Fair parade ready to roll Saturday

The Cullman County Fair is coming to town, with the annual parade kicking off festivities this Saturday afternoon.

The fair parade will march up U.S. 31 from Sixth Street Southwest to Arnold Street Northwest beginning at 2 p.m. Participants will start lining up at noon.

Roads will be closed at the following locations: Third Avenue and First Street Southwest, Dripping Springs Road and Third Avenue Northwest, Main Avenue and Arnold Street, Main Avenue and Third Avenue Northwest and First Avenue and Arnold Street Northeast.

It’s all leading up to the Cullman County Fair which is set for Sept. 21-30 with Reed Expositions out of Baytown, Texas taking over the midway. Gates will open at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Cullman County Fairgrounds on Sportsman Drive Southwest.

MegaPasses, which includes admission, free parking and unlimited rides, are on sale for $22 at People’s Bank and at the fair office. The last day to purchase a MegaPass will be Sept. 22.

The Cullman County Fair Queen pageant will be Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Coca Cola Theater. Student day will be Monday, Sept. 25, and senior citizen day will be Wednesday, September 27.
