For the eighth consecutive year, Topre America has been recognized by Honda of America for excellence in its work to supply Honda plants with quality parts.

Mike Lapham, senior manager for Honda of America automotive purchasing, attended a Topre employee meeting Tuesday morning to share the good news with the company’s staff.

Lapham said Honda has 715 original equipment manufacturers and suppliers in North America, and only 45 of those received awards.

All of the awards focus on different aspects of supplying, like quality and delivery, but the Excellence in Value award indicates excellence in all of those phases, he said.

“It means you’re doing really well in all categories,” he said.

Lapham said there were only 18 of the 715 suppliers that received the Excellence in Value award, which puts Topre America in the top 2.5 percent of Honda of America’s suppliers.

“That’s really an outstanding performance to be in that small of a group of suppliers,” he said.

Lapham said he looked into the winners of previous awards while preparing to travel to Cullman to present the award to Topre America employees, and saw that the company has won the Excellence in Value award eight times.

“This is unheard of,” he said. “This is amazing work that each and every one of you are doing to accomplish these things. This doesn’t happen with the rest of our suppliers.”

With more growth coming to Topre and more complex work for Honda coming with that growth, Lapham said he and the rest of Honda of America are confident that Topre America will be able to meet those needs and excel as they have over the last several years.

“What we’ve seen in the characteristics of Topre America and associates, is that you will be more than capable of exceeding our expectations on an ongoing basis,” he said.
