Cullman Regional announced the death of long-time emergency department physician Dr. Robert Echols in a Facebook post Tuesday.

The post reads:

“Our hospital family, especially our emergency department team is devastated by this loss.

Dr. Echols has been a familiar face in the ER for more than 20 years. He began commuting from Birmingham, but loved Cullman so much he eventually made it his home where he became an active member of his church and a staple of our community. Please keep his family and our ER team in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of our beloved physician.”
