The Cullman County Republican Party has set qualifying dates for anyone interested in running for local office for the 2018 primary election. 

The qualifying dates are Jan. 8 – Feb. 9, 2018, for local offices, Cullman County Republican Chairman Waid Harbison said.

If candidates do not qualify with the Republican Party during this time frame, they will not be able to run for office under the Republican Party for the 2018 election cycle, Harbison said.

The primary election will be June 5 with run-off elections held if needed on July 17. Candidates qualifying for local office will be required to pay a 2 percent fee of the salary for the post they are seeking. If candidates or campaigns do not have adequate funding for the qualifying fee, the party may waive the fee if needed.
