With construction still under way at the location of the former Cullman Middle School “round building,” the city of Cullman has released its official traffic plan to drop off students for the beginning of the 2025 school year.

Cullman City Police Chief Dave Nasetta said the department had hoped construction would be completed, which would allow for previous traffic plans to be reinstated. However, as students resume classes Wednesday, Aug. 7, he said early morning traffic flow would look similar to the last two weeks of the previous school year.

A map sent to The Times by the city of Cullman shows three CPD officers stationed around the school to direct traffic, at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 8th Street, the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 10th Street and the intersection of 10th Street and 4th Avenue.

Parents will need to drop middle-school students off and exit the traffic line via 2nd Avenue by entering on 9th Street and exiting on 10th Street. Any parent also needing to drop students off at Cullman High School will be able to exit the middle school line at 3rd Avenue.

Fourth Avenue will be closed, apart from school traffic, between 10th Street and Oak Drive, but the map shows both lanes of Oak will remain open.

Nasetta said currently the plan isn’t expected to be used after construction is completed.
