- Carolers lead off the Cullman Christmas parade in 2014.
It may be unseasonably warm for December, but aside from a chance of storms on Sunday, this weekend should be a nice one to celebrate the annual Christmas in Cullman celebration.
The Saturday festivities include a Christmas market, downtown parade, outdoor expo and festival-style activities in downtown.
The Dinkleberg Outdoor Christmas Market will be hosted at St. John’s Evangelical Church from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., featuring European-style arts and crafts. An outdoor expo will also be hosted at St. John’s during that period, sponsored by Cullman City Parks & Recreation, featuring off-road vehicles, hunting and fishing gear, boats, and other outdoor items.
The Christmas event will culminate with a parade at 6 p.m. with more than 60 lighted floats, live music, and a live nativity scene put together by Cullman High drama students. The parade will run down First Avenue, starting at the Busy Bee Cafe and ending at the Festhalle Market Platz.
Following the parade, the Cullman High drama team will perform a Christmas presentation, live music, pictures with Santa Claus, and kids activities will be hosted at nearby Depot Park. A Christmas movie will also be shown on a big-screen at the park.
The event marks the second phase of a two-part Christmas in Cullman event, kicked off by a downtown shopping day held in late November.
