The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is warning of scammers calling residents claiming to be with the CCSO.
The caller will claim the resident owes a fine from missing jury duty or from an outstanding warrant. The caller will offer to clear up the fine or warrant paying an amount via credit card, PayPal, or other payment method over the phone.
The CCSO does not administer fines will never call asking for payment.
“We just want to try and get the word out to citizens that we will never call you to solicit money over the phone. These scammers could be in any part of the world and we don’t won’t people to give their hard earned money to these lazy predators,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry.
The CCSO is asking all residents to pass along this information to family, friends and senior citizens.
