Auburn’s OC Chip Lindsey visiting Cullman today

Local Tiger fans will get an up close look at the football team’s new offensive coordinator when Chip Lindsey visits the Cullman County Auburn Club for its annual scholarship banquet tonight.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and the program will begin at 6 p.m. Lindsey will be keynote speaker at the event which will also feature a silent auction at the Cullman Civic Center. But if you haven’t already purchased tickets, you’re out of luck because they won’t be sold at the door.
Auburn items will be auctioned off to benefit the club’s scholarship fund, and door prizes will be given away to a handful of attendees.
While the Auburn gear will likely gain plenty of attention and discussion, all eyes and ears will be turned to Lindsey who will make his official play-calling debut at Jordan-Hare Stadium when the Tigers host Georgia Southern September 2 to kick off the 2017 season. Like head coach Gus Malzahn, the Madison native conquered the world of high school football first before making the leap to college.
But after serving as Arizona State’s OC and quarterbacks coach last year where he led the Sun Devils’ offense to a 33.3 points per game average, Lindsey is returning home.
After a series of high school coaching jobs across North Alabama, including as Spain Park’s head coach in 2011-2012, Malzahn hired Lindsey as an offensive analyst at Auburn in 2013. That year, the Tigers beat arch rival Alabama in an Iron Bowl for the ages on its way to winning the SEC Championship and playing in the BCS National Championship Game.
