Annexation requests on planning commission agenda

The Cullman Planning Commission recommended several annexation requests to the Cullman City Council during Monday night’s meeting.

The annexations included a home on County Road 1335 in Lake George Estates, the Windbrook Subdivision off Carrol Drive and a home on Golf Course Road were all recommended by the commission. After Monday’s recommendations, the annexations will next have to be approved by the Cullman City Council.

The Commission also approved a loft apartment request for 314 1st Avenue SE, along with two preliminary subdivisions — Shadowbrook, located on East Hanceville Road SE, and Windbrook Phase III and Phase IV—  after hosting public hearings prior to the consideration.

The request for the Shadowbrook Subdivision is contingent on a rezoning request to change the lot from R-1 to R-2 and developers making changes to the covenant that were requested by City Attorney Roy Williams. The rezoning request will need its own public hearing and approval by the commission during its next meeting in April.

“Any preliminary work they do is at their own peril,” Williams said.
