Mancuso, a dermatologic surgeon with offices in Florence, Decatur and Madison, is unopposed on the Democratic ticket for the June 3 primary. He previously served in the State House of Representatives from 1998-2002.

Mancuso will either meet incumbent Sen. Paul Bussman or Bussman’s Republican challenger Bruce Whitlock in the race to represent District 4 which covers areas of Cullman, Lawrence, Winston and Marion counties.

“We need to take a serious approach to the business of governing this great state,” Mancuso said. “I will work to improve our schools, recruit new jobs and industry and secure funding to build new roads throughout the district.”

Mancuso said as state representative, he helped establish a low income senior drug prescription program in Limestone County. As senator, a priority will be working to make quality health care available to all Alabamians, Mancuso said.

“As I travel across our district the one thing I continue to hear from voters is that we deserve better representation in Montgomery,” he said. “I have a proven track record of getting things done.”

Mancuso was one of ten physicians that participated nationally in the Healthcare Policy Fellowship and was a member of the legislative delegation that reviewed the Alabama National Guard in Europe and NATO.

He has served as a past member of the following: Alabama Health Committee, Alabama Education Committee, Governors Task Force of Teen Smoking, Alabama Space Science Exhibit, Alabama Commission of Aerospace Science and Industry, Alabama Historical Commission and the Alabama Building Commission.
