Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is proud to announce that Erin Britt of Cullman is one of the first medical students to receive a Blue Cross–funded scholarship to the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) in Dothan, Alabama. Britt is one of nine ACOM students selected to receive this scholarship.

“Congratulations to the first group of medical students to be awarded this scholarship,” said Terry Kellogg, President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. “Each of these students is very deserving, and we are proud of their commitment to providing Alabamians access to the quality healthcare they need.”

Recent studies by the Health Resources and Services Administration, the National Association of Community Health Centers, and the Kaiser Family Foundation show a shortage of primary care physicians, and thousands of Alabamians lack access to primary care doctors.
