Hayden wins Sean Still Thanksgiving tourney

The Hayden Wildcat wrestling team won the Sean Still Thanksgiving Junior High tournament last Saturday. The Wildcats totaled 282 points to best second place Fultondale, who finished with 218. Arab finished third with 131 points and Mortimer Jordan took fourth out of the 11-team field with 130.5 points. Pell City was fourth with 106 points, followed by Pinson Valley in fifth with 103 points. Gardendale finished sixth with 90.5 points.
Local wrestlers who placed were as follows. At 77 pounds, Teague of Fultondale was second. At 87 pounds, Howse of Hayden took first and Kimbrough of Hayden was second. At 97 pounds, A group, Carlile of Hayden was second and Lowe of Mortimer Jordan was thrid. At 97 pounds, B group, McPherson of Hayden was second, Durham of Hayden was third and Carlton of Hayden was fourth.
At 105 pounds, A group, Brindley of Mortimer Jordan was first. At 105 pounds, B group, Atkins of Hayden was first, Doss of Gardendale was third and Johnson of Fultondale was fourth.
At 114 pounds, A group, Copas of Hayden was second and Shellnut of Mortimer Jordan was third. At 114 pounds, B group, Gardner of Gardendale was second, Howse of Mortimer Jordan was third and Ewing of Mortimer Jordan was fourth.
At 121 pounds, A group, Martin of Fultondale was first, Jones-Black of Hayden was second, Taylor of Mortimer Jordan was third and Writesman of Hayden was fourth. At 121 pounds, B group, Manning of Hayden was first, Forrest of Gardendale was second, Lyman of Mortimer Jordan was third and Winchester of Hayden was fourth.
At 127 pounds, Spardling of Fultondale was second and Myrick of Hayden was third. At 132 pounds, Donaldson of Fultondale was second, Melvin of Hayden was third and Johnson of Hayden was fourth.
At 137 pounds, Newton of Hayden was first and Dodgen of Fultondale was second. At 142 pounds, Ray of Fultondale was second and Johnsey of Mortimer Jordan was third.
At 147 pounds, Johnson of Fultondale was fist, Morris of Hayden was third and Murphy of Mortimer Jordan was fourth.
At 154 pounds, A group, Craig of Fultondale was first, Todd of Gardendale was second and Hodo of Hayden was fourth. At 162 pounds, Slatton of Hayden was first and Willis of Fultondale was fourth. At 173 pounds, Roberts of Hayden was first and McPherson of Hayden was fourth. At 191 pounds, Ingram of Fultondale was first and Conway of Hayden was second.
At 217 pounds, Prince of Hayden was first, White of Gardendale was second, Holt of Hayden was third and Speights of Hayden was fourth.
In the heavyweight division, Pea of Hayden was second.
