Merchants Bank promotes four officers

The Board of Directors of Merchants Bank of Alabama, a community bank since 1907, recently announced the promotions of four key officers.

Kerry Hanvey was promoted from vice president of retail banking to senior vice president of operations. Kerry joined the bank in 1992 and has served in various positions over this 22- year period. Kerry is responsible for bank wide operations for the five bank offices.

Laura Johnson was promoted to senior vice president-internal auditor. Laura joined the bank in 1994 as an audit assistant. She has served in the audit area during her 20 years of employment. Laura will continue to be responsible for the Internal Audit function of the bank and reports directly to the Board of Directors audit committee.

Michelle Kimbrough was promoted to vice president-mortgage loan officer. Michelle joined the bank in 1994 and has worked in the loan area during her 20 years of employment with the bank, most recently as mortgage loan officer.

Ross West was elected to the officer position of assistant loan officer. Ross joined the bank in 2006 in the Information Technology Department. He worked with various IT responsibilities and later split time between IT and loan collections. Ross became full time in the loan department in 2013 where he has been continuing his training in the loan function of the bank.
