A Warrior woman has won a grant for the Cane Creek volunteer fire department through a former employer.

Norma Perrymon, a volunteer with the fire department, has applied every year for the past five years for a program with Prudential that awards grants to employees’ choices of non-profit organizations. The program pays out sums of $250-$5,000, and she was awarded $1,000 this year. Perrymon retired from Prudential several years ago.

Perrymon said the fire station relies on grants and fundraisers to keep operating. The station will be selling doughnuts starting Mafrch 12, and will have a large fundraising event with several vendor booths on April 9.
