Bailey Warren was diagnosed at age 2 with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), formerly called juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and uveitis. Uveitis is an eye condition that can lead to blindness in severe cases.

Bailey, her parents Steve and Kim, and other family and friends have witnessed the ups and down of JIA. The child receives a weekly chemotherapy medication, Methotrexate, every week, as well as Remicade treatments for her eyes.

“But she is still a happy, loving 6 year old who gives back way more smiles and good fortune than she gets,” said Kim Warren.

On Thursday, after Bailey received her treatments in Tuscaloosa, she helped gather supplies at her church for storm victims in the north Jefferson County community.

“She is one special little hero,” Warren said.

In addition, Bailey helps raise money for the Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF). She is featured in videos on the foundation’s website.

Also, ANRF sent Bailey and her family to meet LPGA Tour professional golfer Kristy McPherson in Mobile in April during a tournament that benefitted the foundation. McPherson was diagnosed with Still’s disease, a rare form of JIA, at age 11 and is on the board of directors for ANRF.

Kim Warren said Bailey’s story touches countless individuals: The family hears from people all over the world through Bailey’s blog, YouTube, Facebook page and videos.
