Kelley Little accepted a unanimous nomination to fill a vacancy on the Vinemont Town Council Monday, Nov. 25.

The decision came two weeks after former councilmember Charolette Cosper rejected the council’s nomination and narrowly avoided the state mandated 60-day deadline of Nov. 29 to fill the Place 1 position after the departure of Chris Thompson in October. Little, whose husband is former Alabama Senate Majority Leader Zeb Little, assumed her place on the council shortly after receiving the nomination and being sworn into the role by the Honorable District Judge Chad Floyd.

Little, a medical assistant at Good Hope Medical, said she has been a lifelong resident of Vinemont and decided to take on a more public role as a means to “give back,” to her community.

“I’ve just lived here my whole life and I’ve benefitted from the community. So, I just felt like it was time for me to give back,” Little said.

She quickly aligned with the town’s more recent efforts to expand its lineup of community events and public amenities, with a particular focus on providing a space for a younger generation of residents.

“I definitely want to give the younger generation things they can do. The activities here have come a long way in the last few years. I think that is a huge thing to keep the kids involved,” Little said.
