Rockets blast Yellow Jackets

Homecoming night for Gardendale was a memorable one as the Rockets routed the Curry Yellow Jackets, 35-0.
The scoring started off with a blast as Gardendale’s Roscoe Ragland scored on the Rockets’ first offensive play, breaking loose for a 63-yard touchdown. Ragland scored again on a six-yard run to increase the score to 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Rockets backup quarterback Dallas Tidwell came in for injured starter Conner McCain and tossed a 19-yard touchdown to Trey Hilliard. Gardendale led 21-0 at half.
Trey Hilliard broke loose for a 73-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give the Rockets a commanding 28-0 lead. Hilliard finished off the Rockets, scoring with a two-yard touchdown run. Gardendale kicker Evan Kreider converted all five point-afters.
The Rocket defense gave up one yard rushing and intercepted three Curry passes and recovered one fumble.
Jonathan Carter finished the night with an interception and fumble recovery to lead the Rocket defense. Chase Handley and Michael Burgess also had interceptions for the Rockets.
The Rockets travel to Walker next Friday night for a key region battle.
