Fultondale Mayor Jim Lowery updated residents Thursday on the city’s progress for 2010, in his annual state of the city address.
Lowery’s theme was “Stability, Progress and Pride” and included details of the city’s financial outlook, 2010 highlights (including seven ribbon cuttings) and community happenings.
Thanks in large part to the Promenade Shopping Center, which opened in 2007, the city’s budget for 2010 and 2011 tops $10 million, as compared to $2.3 million in 1996.
In addition, Fultondale’s municipal reserves has increased from $500,000 in 2007 to $4 million in 2010.
The city has at least two large projects in the works: A new fire hall to be located on Walker Chapel Road west of Interstate 65 and a new library.
Thursday’s event was sponsored by the Fultondale Chamber of Commerce. Lowery will give two more state of the city addresses at other locations
