North Jefferson communities get 2-5 inches of snow

Meteorologists say parts of North Jefferson County got as much as five inches of snow between Sunday and Monday.
According to The Weather Channel, five inches of snow fell on Gardendale and Fultondale, and 2.2 inches fell on Warrior, Kimberly and Morris.
On top of that, ABC 33/40 meteorologist James Spann said the coldest temperatures of the season will happen today and continue through the week.
“No heat wave, but at least it will give us a chance for some melting before the Siberian express arrives at mid-week,” said Spann in his weather blog at alabamawx.com.
On Tuesday, the ABC meteorologists were predicting temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees for this morning, 12 to 17 degrees on Thursday morning and 10 to 15 degrees on Friday morning; however, there will be sunshine throughout the rest of the week, with some light rain possible on Sunday night. On Tuesday, Spann was predicting the first arctic winds would be blowing in that night.
“Understand where there is a good blanket of snow on the ground, single digit lows are likely Friday morning,” said Spann. He predicts the Friday afternoon will warm up to the high 40s.
The Weather Channel is predicting low chances of further precipitation through the rest of the week, and is even predicting a zero percent chance on Friday.
North Jefferson police departments said the weather hasn’t caused any major accidents; only one minor accident was reported in Fultondale, and no one was injured. Gardendale police say they got two traffic accident calls, but the drivers left before emergency personnel arrived, which technically means they aren’t recorded as actual traffic accidents. At least four people have died in weather-related crashes in southern states, according to The Weather Channel.
On Tuesday, the Gardendale Police Department stopped inclement weather operations. The Alabama Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety say they are continuing to monitor road conditions across the state. They expect many roadways in Alabama to become impassable again, although they do not specifically mention north Jefferson. Both departments are advising against driving until conditions have improved.
