B’ham musical hits a foul note

The wife and I enjoy seeing a stage play on a not too regular basis.
When we saw the name of a musical we thought would be enjoyable on the Birmingham Broadway Series at the BJCC, we bought tickets. The name of the show was the “Wedding Singer.”
I was never so surprised to hear the type of language that was used in so much of the lyrics. If we had known the foul language that was so prevalent in the songs, we would certainly not wasted the money for the tickets.
I was not only embarrassed for myself, but more so for my wife. We have been to plays prior to this several times and this has not happened in the past.
If this is the trash the Birmingham Broadway Series and the BJCC are going to be showing, this will be the last time I will attend a play. I personally do not understand why writers can not write plays and music without such outright vulgarity.
Having seen this it makes me wander how much federal, state and local taxes are given to venues such as this under the auspices of art.
In my opinion these plays should have a rating system.
Thank you for letting me vent disappointments felt over this play.
