Clifford Wayne Gean Sr.

Funeral services for Clifford Wayne Gean Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Concord Baptist Church, Pastor Ed Heptinstall officiating, with interment in Baileyton Cemetery.

Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gean passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, at his residence. He was born July 8, 1953, to Wilford Dewey and Glida Rucker Gean. He served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 19, 1972, to June 26, 1991. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1991 to 1998. He served in the Korean War and received the Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon three times, Driver and Mechanic Badge, Expert Rifleman Badge and Army Lapel Button.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Glida Gean of Bloomfield, Mo.; his mother-in-law, Earline McGraw; his wife, Dana S. Gean of Cullman; a son, Clifford W. Gean Jr. of Cullman; three daughters, Catrina Melson of Cullman, Denenda Williams of Logan and Ganeana Gean of Cullman; two brothers, Dalton (Linda) Gean of Essex, Mo., and Wilford Gean Jr. of Oran, Mo., four sisters, Kathern (Stanley) Acord of Bloomfield, Mo., Belenda (Harold) Schumer of Biehle, Mo., Glenda (Richard) Atwill of Portageville, Mo., Barbara (Richard) Bost of Mathews, Mo.; three grandchildren, Christa Nikole Melson, Kadrian Eli Wilson and Larry Lamar Sanford Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Concord Baptist Church, 8158 Highway 69, Cullman, AL 35058.

Pallbearers will be Clifford W. Gean Jr., Dalton Gean, Wilford Gean Jr., Darrel Hanes, and Bart and Ben Hanes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy and Rocky Duke.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the church
