Ernest ‘Ray’ Cornelius
Funeral services for Ernest “Ray” Cornelius, 69, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Johns Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham. The viewing will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Johns Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cornelius passed away Monday, March 26, at his home on Smith Lake. Ray grew up on the West End in Birmingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Pauline Cornelius.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Cornelius; two granddaughters, Ashlyn and Kensey Cornelius; a brother, Jack (Joyce) Cornelius; a sister, Nancy (Fred) Orange; three nephews, Keith Cornelius, Garrett and Baker (Andrew) Orange; and his little dog, Casey.
The family would like to express its sincere appreciation for the love and care given him by Rhonda Brown, and Renee and Boyce Teer of Cullman during his illness. The family would also like to express sincere appreciation to Karen Gordon, Robbin Tucker, Kathy Malchow, Sonia Norris and Chaplin Larry Duke of Omega Hospice of Cullman for the love and care given during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
