Two suspects have been charged with capital murder in a Center Point drug deal that went bad.
Jeremy Dewayne Bell, 18, of Center Point and Demario Jones, 23, of Grayson Valley, were each charged in the death of Larrice Bryant on Friday. The incident was originally reported as a carjacking, but Jefferson County Sheriff’s investigators later determined that Bryant, his father and the suspects were trying to buy marijuana, according to Chief Deputy Randy Christian.
Bryant’s body was found in the middle of the 1600 block of 6th Place N.W. Christian says they believe the suspects shot Bryant as they were riding in a truck through the neighborhood. During the altercation, Jones was also shot in the hand.
Jones was found hiding in his girlfriend’s apartment on Saturday morning, while Bell was turned in by his mother later that day.
Jones and Bell are lodged in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
