Madgie Hicks Baker

Funeral services for Madgie Hicks Baker, 73, of Gardendale will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, Guy Hunt officiating, with burial in Fairview West Cemetery in Hanceville.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Baker died Monday, July 16, at her residence.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.



Helen Mary Davis

Funeral services for Helen Mary Davis, 77, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home Chapel, Father Marcus Voss officiating, with interment in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Davis passed away on Sunday, July 15. She was born on April 26, 1930, to Joseph and Theresa Bauer Schaefers. She loved gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Davis; a grandson, Heath Davis; two brothers, Edward Schaefers and Bernard Schaefers; and a sister, Cecilia Kinney.

Survivors include four brothers, Tommy (Hulda) Schaefers, Jimmy (Nancy) Schaefers, Theodore (Rachel) Schaefers and Melvin (Sue) Schaefers; three sons, Alan (Nan) Davis, Ronald Davis and Jimmy (Joann) Davis; a daughter, Angela (Tony) Turbyfill; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.



Gladys Frances Armstrong

Funeral services for Gladys Frances Armstrong, 92, of Hartselle will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Bell Springs Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Armstrong died Monday, July 16, at Hartselle Hospital.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



Elza Iola Tucker

Funeral services for Elza Iola Tucker, 90, of Killen, Ala., will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Macedonia Church in Battleground, Billy Gable officiating, with interment in the church cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Tucker died Sunday, July 15, at the Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence. She was born on Feb. 2, 1917, in Morgan County to Wesley and Mollie Forgey Hogan. She was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Tucker; her parents; a sister, Hazel Little; and three brothers, Vermont Hogan, Raymond Hogan and Brice Hogan.

Survivors include a son, Ralph (Mila) Tucker of Vinemont; a daughter, Sarah Davis of Killen; a sister, Reba Hogan Curtis of Seattle, Wash.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.



Lizzie Stisher

Funeral services for Lizzie Stisher, 97, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Jack Collins and Dennis Trimble officiating, with interment in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stisher died Saturday, July 14, at her residence. She was born on Jan. 10, 1910, in Blount County to James Edward and Lou Etta Self Laster. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reedie Stisher; a granddaughter, Melinda Calvert Thornton; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include a son, Galen (Jean) Stisher of Cullman; three daughters, Willodean (Bill) Humphries of Eva, Christean (Jerry) Blair of West Point and Linda Calvert of Florence; a sister, Ressie Laster of Birmingham; a brother, J.C. Laster of Birmingham;six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steven Blair, Brian Calvert, Barry Stisher, Brent Humphries, Todd Humphries and Chandler Stisher.

Visitation was Monday at the funeral home.



Alan Craig Mangum

Funeral services for Alan Craig Mangum, 46, of Cullman were Monday, July 16, 2007, at Sacred Heart Church, Abbott Cletus Meagher officiating, with entombment in Cullman Heritage Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mangum died Friday, July 13, at Folsom Center. He was born on May 15, 1961, to Drannan “Bill” Mangum and Betty Elizabeth Hauk Mangum. He was a benefit analyst with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Cynthia (Craig) Daniel and Phyllis (Jerry) Thompson, both of Cullman; two nephews, Chase and Keegan Thompson of Cullman; and special friends, Dewight Casey, Jeff Curtin, Steve Helton and a multitude of friends and relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County, Sacred Heart Church, BAO, or the American Cancer Society.

The family thanks all of the family, friends, and caregivers from CRMC, Folsom Center and Hospice who shared their time and love with Alan.

Visitation and the rosary were Sunday.



Rita Faye Randolph

Funeral services for Rita Faye Randolph, 48, of Cullman were Monday, July 16, 2007, at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. Terry Nappier officiating, with burial in Piney Grove Cemetery, located just south of Falkville.

Peck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Randolph died Friday, July 13, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Nikki (Johnny) Robinson of Falkville; two special children, Kaden and Amberly Bennett; a niece, Julie Moses of Vinemont; a sister-in-law, Mary Lawrence of Vinemont; and special friends, Glenda and Bobby Robinson of Falkville and Catherine and Billy Robinson of Decatur.

Pallbearers were Doyce Lawrence, Jamie Lawrence, Adam Calvert, Menno Yoder and Chad Bennett.

The family received friends Sunday evening at the funeral home.



Linda Choate

Funeral services for Linda Choate, 55, of Cullman are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Moss-Service Funeral Home. Ms. Choats died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at her residence.



Phillip “Flop” Walker

Funeral services for Phillip “Flop” Walker, 48, of Battleground will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Scott Guthery officiating, with burial in Cross Roads Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Walker died Friday, July 13, in Logan. He was born on Oct. 9, 1958. He was a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Lowery Walker; a son, Jared Walker of Battleground; a daughter, Jessica Walker of Battleground; his parents, James and Jeraldine Walker of West Point; a brother, Mitch Walker of Nyota; and three sisters, Vicki Walker and Cathy Walker, both of West Point, and Lisa (Wade) Roberts of Battleground.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.



Betty Sue Harper

Funeral services for Betty Sue Harper, 75, of Cullman will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Norman Dye officiating, with interment in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harper died Sunday, July 15, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. She was born on Nov. 5, 1931, in Alabama to Annie Rose Head and Jay Formby. She was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dianne Sterling; and a brother, James Formby.

Survivors include her husband, Warren G. Harper; two daughters, Jacalyn (Richard) Pitruzzello and Kris (Jeff) Knop; a son, Gary (Cindy) Harper; eight grandchildren, Renea (Eric) Fletcher, Valarie (Bill) Yearwood, Erika, Savanna, Jay Knop, Dylan, Alyssa and Matthew Harper; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.



Betty L. Grund

Funeral services for Betty L. Grund, 69, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. John Jenkins officiating, with interment in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Grund passed away on Saturday, July 14, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanceville. She graduated from the Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo., and worked as a nurse from 1958 to 2005 at Decatur General Hospital, Cullman Medical Center and Hartselle Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Azellie Patrick Grund; and a brother, Leon Grund.

Survivors include three sisters, Ruth Grund, Frances (Randy) Nuss and Helen (Tommy) Sullivan; three brothers, George (Sandra) Grund, Roger (Von) Grund, Paul (Linda) Grund; special family, Nell Gardner, Rodger, Debbie and Tiffany Abbott and Tonya, Shane and Hunter Cupp; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation was Monday at the funeral home.



Onnie Butler Thomas

Funeral services for Onnie Butler Thomas, 60, of Bolivar, Tenn., formerly of Cullman County, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Corinth Methodist Church near Battleground, with burial in the church cemetery.

Shackelford Funeral Home in Bolivar, Tenn., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomas died Sunday, July 15, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton in Covington, Tenn.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
