A Hayden woman has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for embezzling from a Warrior bank branch.
Frances Duckworth, who was the head teller at what was originally Superior Bank and is now Cadence Bank, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge James Hancock on Wednesday.
Duckworth, 51, struck a plea deal with federal prosecutors in March. She admitted to embezzling nearly $95,000 from Superior Bank by skimming deposit transactions from November 2009 to April 2011. After Cadence took over Superior, Duckworth continued skimming until last August for nearly $108,000, according to the plea deal.
Duckworth will have to pay that amount back to the bank, as well as an equal amount to the federal government as a forfeiture of proceeds from illegal activity. She will also serve five years of supervised release after she serves her prison sentence.
