The Kimberly City Council is at long last convinced that seal-coat paving work in the Liberty Crossing subdivision is complete and done properly.

In Monday night’s regular session, the council voted to release to developer Clint Singletary the performance bond on the first and second phases of the project, a total of $30,000.

That action finally ended a long-running battle between the city, residents of the subdivision and Singletary over completion of the paving work, which resulted in the council issuing an ultimatum that Singletary finish by the end of summer.

The council also tabled action on the city’s contract with Revenue Discovery Systems for collection of sales taxes. Council members were not sure whether the renewal was for one year or three, and wanted more time to look over the new contract.

In other business, the council passed a proclamation declaring Sept. 19 as “No Texting While Driving Day.”
