Wrestling: Six local wrestlers go for the gold Saturday at state championships

Six local wrestlers will compete for state championships Saturday at the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville, and eight others will go in the consolation finals for third place. Pinson Valley and Fultondale have two wrestlers each in the championship round, while Hayden and Corner have one each.
In the team standings, Fultondale is in fourth place in Class 1A-4A, well behind front-runner St. James. In 5A, Pinson is in fifth, but at the top of the leaderboard it’s a two-horse race between Scottsboro and Arab.
The Saturday wrestlers are:
