Music

Oct. 3, 5 p.m. David Speegle and Brent Pearl will perform a tribute to the Louvin Brothers at the Gardendale Senior Center. There will also be bluegrass by Glen Tolbert, Bo Chambers and bassist Alan Ogg. Free to the public.



Gala

Oct. 5, 6:30 p.m. Gardendale based-Building Job Skills for Americans with Disabilities (BJS) will have a fund-raising benefit gala at United Cerebral Palsy, located at 101 Oslo Circle in Birmingham. Quilt Show

5K Run, 1 Mile Walk

Children participating in the One Block Costume Trot are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, with prizes awarded for best costumes. Creek Clean-up

Volunteers are needed for the Fall 2009 Five Mile Creek clean-up. On Sept. 26, 9 a.m. to noon, cleanup is around the Coalburg Bridge canoe launch. On Oct. 10, 9 a.m. to noon, cleanup is at Brookside, pulling tires from the creek from the 2003 storm. Bring gloves and expect to get wet.
