Torches clinch top seed at ACEAA finals

Jeremy Holcombe hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, as Tabernacle Christian secured the top seed from the North Region in the upcoming ACEAA State Tournament by defeating Tuscaloosa Christian 14-13 Monday.
The game was the completion of a contest that began Saturday, but was suspended in the fourth inning because of rain.
The Torches were behind 9-5 when the game was called, but they battled back to take an 11-9 lead after six innings. The Warriors tied the game in the seventh, and took the lead with two more runs in the first extra inning, But Hunter Patterson slammed a two-run homer to knot the game again.
Tabernacle will go for the state championship in the ACEAA Tournament, which begins Friday at Tuscaloosa Christian.
