Gardendale police, FBI thwart credit union robbery

A tip to Gardendale police helped thwart a robbery at the Family Security Credit Union at Odum an Fieldstown roads.
GPD Chief Mike Walker said that his department was tipped off to the possible robbery last week, and worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to stake out the credit union. They caught two robbers in the act on Saturday at about 12:20 p.m. The robbers were captured without incident.
Walker said that two black males were taken into custody and lodged int he Jefferson County Jail. Their names have not been released, pending the issuance of warrants.
A third person is being questioned regarding the robbery attempt, and may also be charged later, Walker said.
A large contingent from Gardendale police joined 15 to 20 agents from the FBI in the investigation.
