Hubbard Walter Gravlee

Hubbard Walter Gravlee, of Gardendale, passed away on Thursday, April 9 at the age of 80. He was born the son of Edward Dow and Flora Nichos Gravlee. He attended Mortimer Jordan High school and was a member of Gardendale Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, John A. Gravlee. He is survived by his wife, Sue Anders Gravlee and he leaves a legacy of children: Teresa Gravlee, Vann Gravlee (Renee) and Cindy Gravlee Bonds (Brian); grandchildren, Jennifer (Bill) Tsantes, Nowell (Ashley) White, Ashley Gravlee, Ryan (Tiffany) Gravlee, Austin Gravlee, Shealyn and Brianna Bonds, Tina Brannon, Keith (Nichole) Byram and Ashley Glaze; great-grandchildren, Aristotle and Vasileah Tsantes, Terra Kelley, Killian White, Alex Sandlin, Drew Brannon and Keith Byram. He was retired from Alabama Gas Company and then retired again from the Alabama Plumbers and Gas Fitters Board. He was an active member of the Blue Flame Club and the Gardendale McDonald’s Coffee Drinkers Club. We will gather at Gardendale Funeral Home to celebrate his life. Visitation will be Saturday, April 11 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. with the chapel service beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Gardendale following the service. He was a good man with good values. He will be missed until we are together again. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Mortimer Jordan Alumni Scholarship Fund or Gardendale Fire and Rescue.
