Fultondale 30, Oakman 6: Stewart has 3 TDs as Cats get first win

After several close losses to start off this season, Fultondale finally picked up their first win Friday night, beating Oakman 30-6.

“It all came together tonight. We played hard,” said Fultondale’s coach Keith Register. “Our offense had over 200 yards in the first half. Our defense looked better than it has all year. Us working hard finally paid off. We’ve got to build on this. I think we can.”
Fultondale quarterback Ardaruis Stewart ran for 153 yards and three touchdowns. He also threw for 170 yards.
The first score of the game came on the opening drive when Fultondale’s Enrique Aguilar kicked a 31-yard field goal to give the Wildcats an early 3-0 lead.
The Oakman offense was able to put together two drives that placed the ball inside the Fultondale 20-yard line. But they unable to score thanks to great defense play by the Wildcat defense.
Oakman was held on downs both times. The final time the Oakman offense was stopped on fourth down by a tackle by Alexis Wallace.
On the final drive of the first half, Fultondale was able to drive the length of the field for a score. On the last play of the half Ardaruis Stewart ran it in from five yards out to make the score 9-0 at halftime. The touchdown completed a 15 play, 94-yard drive that took up over eight minutes.

Fultondale put the game out of reach in the third quarter.
Ardarius Stewart scored his second touchdown of the game on the Wildcats second possession of the half. This time he ran right up the middle untouched for 14 yards and the score. He also threw a 2-point conversion to Ian Tinsley.
Oakman got on board late in the third quarter when Donald Ruth ran it in from 11 yards.
But it didn’t take long for Fultondale to answer right back. After Anthony Murrell recovered an onside kick, the Wildcats needed only three plays to score again. Stewart scored his third touchdown of the game on an 18-yard run.
Fultondale scored once more midway in the fourth quarter. This time Deundrea Marshall provided the points when he ran it in from 7 yards out.
Marshall also put up some big numbers for the night, with 102 yards receiving and 76 yards rushing.
On defensive side of the ball Fultondale’s top two tacklers were Julian Hardy and Jonathan Dunn. Both had eight tackles. Dunn also recorded a sack and was consistently in the Oakman backfield all game long.
The Wildcats (1-4, 1-4 region) go on the road next week to play at Westminster Christian.
