Volunteers collecting books for Warrior sale

Library enthusiasts in Warrior are looking for books that are gathering dust and have been read by their owners for the last time.
The Jefferson-Blount County Library Foundation is collecting items for a book sale in order to raise money for the future Regional Library at Warrior.
“We’re hoping for a strong show of support,” said Anne Jolly, president of the library foundation. Jolly and other volunteers have worked for several years to raise funds and write grants for the new library, which will be located at the former National Guard armory on Cane Creek Road.
The Warrior City Council in January 2008 designated the former military building as the new library site.
Williams-Blackstock Architects has provided the architectural plans and renderings, and the board is now raising the money for the facility’s renovation.
Books may be dropped off at Warrior City Hall through Oct. 1.
The sale is Oct. 8, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Oct. 9, 9 a.m to 3 p.m.
