Church to host Oktoberfest

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is hosting its annual Oktoberfest Celebration on Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be live music, inflatables and kid’s games, huge yard sale, bake sale, farmer’s market vendors, authentic German food and American food. This year’s Oktoberfest will benefit the North Jefferson Women’s Center, The Old Firehouse Shelter and Food for the Poor Ministries. Women’s Center hosting ‘Celebrate Life’ banquet

The North Jefferson Women’s Center is hosting its annual “Celebrate Life” fund-raising banquet on Sept. 30 at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. The guest speaker will be Henry Jernigan and guest entertainment by George Weeks. The food will be catered by Jim’ n Nick’s of Gardendale. Tickets are $15 or a table for 8 for $125. Taylor guest speaker at historical society meeting

Mary Taylor will be the speaker today, 10 a.m., at the Gardendale Historical Society’s monthly meeting at the Gardendale-Martha Moore Library. Her speech is titled “Make your family more interesting.” Everyone is welcome.
