Trafford residents will be voting in a different location Tuesday in the Democratic and Republican runoff elections.

Voters will cast their ballots at Trafford First Baptist Church on Third Avenue West, according to a spokeswoman from the Jefferson County Board of Registrars.

The polling place is changed because the Trafford Post Office, which burned on June 26, is now operating out of the Trafford Community Center, where residents normally vote.

The change is for this election only, according to the spokeswoman, who added that she hopes the post office is rebuilt or repaired by the November general election.

Trafford town clerk Carolyn Tyler said Tuesday that the U.S. Postal Service has not yet delivered a trailer from which the post office would reportedly operate until the post office is repaired or rebuilt.

A postal service spokeswoman said last week that the organization had not yet decided whether to rebuild the Trafford Post Office. She did not return a telephone call by press time Tuesday to say whether a decision has been made.
