Drivers may have noticed large road construction equipment parked near the Interstate 65 exits in Gardendale and Mt. Olive.

It will soon be put to good use, as the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is planning to resurface the two inside southbound lanes of the interstate from Mt. Olive Road (milepost 272.2) to Walkers Chapel Road (milepost 271.5), according to Linda Crockett, with ALDOT media and community relations.

Weather permitting, crews will work evenings, from 7 p.m. 6 a.m., according to Crockett. Workers are scheduled to work through Friday night.

“Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival and departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area,” according to Crockett.
