Bobbie Burgett will be selling and signing her work “From Heartaches to Happiness” on April 3, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Mt. Olive First Baptist Church.

The fiction novel falls into the category of “Christian family adventure,” according to Burgett. It tells the story of a family moving from Illinois to Casper, Wyo., in 1865 to claim free land offered by the government after the Civil War.

The book is the first in a series of three novels. All are completed and her publisher, Publish America, has entered into contract with Burgett to print the second book.

The book in paperback sells for $27.95 on amazon.com or publishamerica.com. But Burgett sells the paperbacks for $24 from her home and at book signings.

Burgett hardly ever tries to sell the more expensive hardback version because “these are hard times for people,” she said. “I’m really not in this for the money. Just to be published at 75 years of age is a blessing.”

Burgett and husband of 27 years, Wayne Burgett, moved to Hanceville almost seven years ago after living in Mt. Olive 47 years.

The two were long-time members of Mt. Olive First Baptist Church, where Bobbie Burgett taught Sunday school for many years.
