PREP BASEBALL PLAYOFFS: Cullman falls to Pell City in 2nd-round sweep

Cullman’s season came to an end Saturday following a second-round sweep at the hands of Pell City in the Class 6A playoffs.
The Bearcats (19-16) fell 10-6 in the opener and 5-4 in the clincher.
Cullman led 4-2 in Game 1 before Pell City put together an eight-run fifth inning that was highlighted by a JorDon Perry grand slam.
Bennett Johnson’s two-run homer in fifth inning of Game 2 tied things at 4, but Pell City plated a run in the bottom of the sixth to reclaim the lead.
The Bearcats then loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh, but a fly ball to right field ended their hopes of a comeback.
