LOCAL SPORTS: Good Hope’s McSwain named Athlete of the Week

For the second consecutive season, Good Hope’s Ava McSwain showed out at the Northwest Regional.
The senior standout capped a fantastic performance at Wallace State with 15 points, four rebounds and one assist against Deshler — helping the program advance to its second straight Final Four with a 70-50 victory in the Elite Eight.
McSwain secured 37 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists in two Northwest Regional tilts, shooting 50 percent from the field en route to earning MVP honors once again.
She is The Times’ Athlete of the Week.
