Cullman High School’s cheerleading teams performed and earned high marks at the recent National High School Cheer Competition, hosted at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida earlier this month.

The varsity cheerleading team finished 3rd in Large D2 Traditional and 11th in Super Varsity D2 Gameday at the competition. The junior varsity Gameday and Traditional cheerleading teams finished 2nd in D2.

Speaking of the varsity, cheer coach Elizabeth Pylant noted the team made an impressive showing and leave a powerful legacy with the program.

“They competed with heart, strength, and integrity, leaving it all on the mat. This season, the coaches asked the girls to – Pour Your Cup Out—give everything for your teammates, love each other, and build each other up,” Pylant said. “These girls embodied that spirit, and we know the Lord will bless their efforts. ‘Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.’ — Proverbs 11:25 They poured it all out, and in return, they gained something even greater. What a season to celebrate. What an amazing group to celebrate. We are so proud.”

Looking to the junior varsity, Pylant noted the next generation of Cullman High cheerleaders seem poised to continue and build on their success in years to come.

“Watching them compete with such heart was truly inspiring for everyone who watched them do what they do best. This season has been one of growth — not just in skills but in their love for the sport and each other,” she said. “Their dedication to Cullman Cheer and enthusiasm for Cullman Cheer are contagious, and we are so excited to see what the future holds for these incredible athletes! Spoiler alert: It is bright.”

The coaches for Cullman Cheer include Pylant,  Savanna Ball, Kristy Patterson and Ashley Wilbanks.
