Robert Aderholt wins Republican nomination for U.S. House in Alabama’s 4th Congressional District

WASHINGTON — Robert Aderholt won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Alabama’s 4th Congressional District Tuesday night with 79.69% (88,859) of the vote over challenger Justin Holcomb’s 20.31% (22,649). In Cullman County, the longtime representative took 74.64% (12,412) of the votes compared to Holcomb’s 25.36% (4,217).

Aderholt thanked his supporters on his Facebook page.

“Thank you for the overwhelming support to serve you for another two years in the U.S. House of Representatives. It’s the honor of my life to have your support and to work for you,” Aderholt posted.

Chad Hanson defeated local attorney Stephen Parker for the Court of Criminal Appeals Place 2 seat 56.36% (264,085) to 43.64% (204,451).

Proposed statewide amendment 1 did not pass. More than 51% (359,770) voters said no to the amendment.

Of the 3,769,372 registered voters in the state, only 21.05% (793,275) cast a vote. Only 17,627 of Cullman County’s 64,738 voters marked a ballot on Super Tuesday.
